Thanks for your interest in mentoring at Forsyth County Schools and joining Browns Bridge Church’s efforts to help at-risk children in our community.

Why Mentor?

A caring adult makes a difference in a child’s life. Mentoring builds self-esteem, improves numerous areas of academic performance, has a positive impact on attitudes, models positive citizenship, and expands horizons for children. You can make this kind of difference in a child’s life! Here’s how…

The Commitment

You will be paired with an elementary or middle school student of your grade and location preference. With your availability in mind, we’ll establish a set time during the school day for you to visit your student.

A mentor commits to visit the student at school once a week or once every other week for 30 minutes from November through May. We’ll provide questions and activity ideas to guide the time with your student. You may also help with his or her schoolwork. Mentors visit their students during the week between 8:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m.

Training

All mentors must attend a training session and complete the school background check before being paired with a student. Trainings typically occurs at Browns Bridge Church during the month of October. Forsyth County Schools also provides trainings throughout the year. Please visit the Forsyth County Schools site for dates and times.
